BLACK
& WHITE PROJECT SPACE for site-specific
installations
As of September 2008, Black & White
Gallery’s Williamsburg location will operate
as a not-for-profit project space under the name Black
& White Project Space. As exhibition spaces disappear
from the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn due to the
building boom which has replaced so much of the neighborhood's
historic fabric, Black & White Project Space is
committed to preserving the legacy of Black &
White Gallery by producing, presenting and promoting
site-specific installations in its Williamsburg location.
With these efforts Black & White Project Space
will continue to bring cutting edge contemporary art
to the community and give artists an opportunity to
show their work in a high visibility setting.
Black & White Project Space will prominently feature
site specific installations stressing the links between
the indoor and outdoor environments by dedicating
the entire space to a single artist or artist collective.
In its curatorial decision making process, Black &
White Project Space seeks artists who demonstrate
social consciousness and spiritual awareness in a
well-developed art making practice.
We emphasize artists who are emerging to mid-career
in their development and manifest the spectrum of
creative approaches to contemporary art.
